Novel #3: Nightlight - A Parody by The Harvard Lampoon

Twilight Parody. With names like Belle Goose and Edwart Mullen, you assume it's going to be side-splittingly hilarious, correct?
WRONG!
This parody was a highly disappointing read. After the Barry Trotter books (Parodies of the Harry Potter series), I have to admit I had high expectations. They soon came crashing down upon reading "Nightlight."

Okay, so it was slightly entertaining. But only very, very, very slightly. I don't think I'll be reading it again. I feel like I wasted the $17 I spent on it. I could've paid that for a book 50 times more exciting. Not to mention a few hundred pages longer. *sigh*

Guess they can't all be winners.

"Nightlight" basically reads like a poor piece of fanfiction, written by an author who really hasn't put any effort into originality or basic quality of reading entertainment. Although I did manage to read the entire 154 pages, it was a bit of a struggle. It did make a half hour train ride less painful.

Makes me very sceptical about the other Twilight Parodies out there. "New Moan"? Not quite sure I'm going to fork out the money for that one. It sounds less like a parody and more like a porno. If I ever get the chance to read it for free, I might give it a go, but if you're looking for a decent parody that will have you giggling, I would definitely reccommend the "Barry Trotter" series. "and the Shameless Parody," "and the Unnescessary Sequel," and "and the Dead Horse." All great reads. Especially for Potter fans. =)
